Halloween...

There are lots of reasons why I live where I live, but little things like a small town Halloween celebration (trick or treating down meandering streets and a walking bridge adorned with jack-o-lanterns lighting the evening sky) play a great big part!  I feel grateful that my kids are growing up with these simple traditions... and the fact that I get to enjoy them too!

Langhorne Slim!!

The only thing that could have made our trip to the beach even better was a free concert at a tiny venue with one of my very most favorite bands... Langhorne Slim and the Law!  He put on a generous and soulful show, we danced our asses off, and just look how close we were to the front...

Why I don't always mind my commute...

Shakori Hills...

We enjoyed one of our most favorite music festivals over the weekend... it's super family-friendly, just down the road from home, and simply magical!  It was a bit soggy this year and there were some sprinkles, but we didn't let the weather dampen our spirits!

I wanted to come up with a fun and easy (and portable) cocktail for the day... so I came up with the following concoction...

Tequila (reposado), pomegranate soda, and a splash of grapefruit juice!

I love the artwork on this label... so I had to give it a try... it was delicious
(and it will look very nice on our Day of the Dead altar later this month)!

The combination of the rich tequila, sweet yet tart soda, and the kick of grapefruit juice worked!
It took a few tries to reach the perfect ratio, but that was research I was happy to conduct.

Little boys and big horses...

The boys aren't so little anymore, but they sure looked small next to the horses.  I guess it is all relative after all!

Orange...

Orange peppers in the garden and orange oak leaves in the trees... lovely!

I do love fall the best...
