Nothing short of thankful...

Some early morning stitching (more on that soon), a mid-day family hike, and a delicious Tofurky feast (such a guilty pleasure)... a whole lot of gratitude around here on this Thanksgiving!

November garden...

Weeds and leaves have mostly taken over the garden, but a bed of broccoli, some chard, and a few lettuces are somehow still growing!  These plants have survived some pretty cold nights (we sadly lost our very productive pepper plants... though it's hard to complain when we were harvesting gorgeous orange peppers well into November!!).

The final harvest before the killing frost... it was a very good year for peppers!

South...

I had myself a little road trip over the weekend... (it was actually to a conference back at Myrtle Beach of all places!).  I had a lot of work to do, but I also managed to soak up some pretty scenery while I was at it!  On the ride home (through lots of tiny, southern towns), I found myself particularly aware of the fact that I live in the south.  I honestly don't think about it on a daily basis (I live in a bit of a bubble I guess) and I take much of it for granted (like the way people are always polite and very warm and friendly... or how I get called darlin' or sweetie on a pretty regular basis!).  I've lived in North Carolina for almost 16 years!  I come from Oregon and will always be a Northwest girl in my heart, but I really have come to love this region... it has a way about it and a real beauty when you look closely.
